Fall 2023 Singapore and Hong Kong Housing Delegation

 

Hawaii State Senator Stanley Chang hosts a housing delegation to Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

Mahalo for your interest in participating in Senator Stanley Chang's Housing Delegation to Singapore and Hong Kong! We are currently seeking a group of diverse, engaged, and pro-housing individuals who hold differing viewpoints on how to solve the housing crisis. The application to participate in the Housing Delegation is open to all and is a competitive application process.

 

Please note, this delegation will travel to Singapore and Hong Kong in Fall 2023 from September 21st through September 28th. Tentatively, the delegation will be in Singapore from September 21st through September 24th and Hong Kong from September 24th through September 28th. The application deadline has been extended to June 5th. Please see below for the travel package information and please note that a $300 deposit will be due to the travel agency by June 15th for accepted applicants.

The delegation will learn in detail a unique approach to social housing by visiting notable historic and contemporary sites throughout Singapore and Hong Kong. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet with both Singapore's and Hong Kong's housing agencies and residents of social housing.

 

Delegates will be expected to participate in the entire delegation in Singapore and Hong Kong.  They will also be expected to participate in three preparatory meetings in the months leading up to the delegation and at least one post-delegation meeting.

 

  • Delegates may book travel packages including hotel, ground transportation, and welcome and farewell receptions, through a travel agency that we are working with.

  • All delegates are responsible for their own airfare.   ​

  • Delegates that choose to book flights and accommodations on their own will be expected to cover the cost of any other relevant expenses.

Full Travel Package Estimate:

  • Single occupancy: $4,395 per person

  • Double occupancy: $3,085 per person

  • Package includes:

    • Hotels

      • Shangri-La Singapore (22 Orange Grove Road, Singapore): 4 nights accommodation with breakfast, 9/20/23 - 9/24/23

      • Hyatt Tsim Sha Tsui (Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui): 4 nights accommodation with breakfast, 9/24/23 - 9/28/23

    • One way economy class airfare from Singapore to Hong Kong on 9/24/23

    • Motor coach group transfer for all scheduled meetings and events​

    • Singapore:

      • Welcome dinner (9/21/23)

      • Group dining with Singapore policy makers (9/22/23)

      • City cultural inside tour (9/23/23)

      • Airport Jewel tour (9/24/23)

    • Hong Kong:

      • Tsim Sha Tsui walking tour (9/24/23)
